Milton fernández
Originally from the Dominican Republic, pianist Milton Fernández Peña began his musical studies at an early age, quickly distinguishing himself as a musician of exceptional promise. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, summa cum laude, from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, before pursuing advanced studies in the United States. His academic achievements include both a Master of Music and a Performance Artist Certificate from Stephen F. Austin State University, an additional Master of Music in Arts Administration, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Oregon.
An active performer on both national and international stages, Fernández has appeared as soloist with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Santo Domingo, the Camerata Washington Heights, and the Camerata Mozart Caribe, among others. His artistry has been recognized with numerous distinctions, most notably his induction into the American Association of Musicians of Honor, Pi Kappa Lambda. Equally dedicated to education, he is a committed pedagogue and active member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, and the Tulsa Area Music Teachers Association.
Fernández’s artistic lineage is firmly rooted in a distinguished tradition, having studied with renowned pedagogues Andrew Parr, Claire Wachter, and Dean Kramer—the final student of the legendary Vladimir Horowitz. Celebrated for his technical mastery, interpretive depth, and the rare ability to unite lyricism with commanding intensity, Fernández continues to captivate audiences and inspire the next generation of pianists.
